I would like to encourage students who plan to continue their studies in French to continue practicing through online resources. Keep in mind that there will be summer assignments for those who will be seniors next year. I have already emailed those out, but I will also add them to my website soon. If anyone is interested in the Q3 grade improvement opportunity, I will attach that here as well. The deadline to submit those assignments will be May 11. Don't forget that IB students cannot get above a 105 average.
Q3 grade improvement opportunity q3_ec_french_4-5_ib.pdf Summer work for students going into French 5 IB next year: french_5_ib_summer_work.pdf Also, anyone who plans to take the HL test next year will need to read 2 French books. The first one was Le Petit Prince. We will review this again at the beginning of the school year next year. You may want to reread it to refresh your memory. The second book will be Oscar et la dame rose by Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt. I would encourage anyone to read both of these over the course of the summer as time permits. I would like to start meeting with HL students after school or during intervention weekly to discuss the second book after fall break. Students in IB French II will continue learning vocabulary and more advanced grammar that will allow them to communicate at a more advanced level. We focus on speaking, writing, and reading, and listening comprehension. This course is aimed to prepare them for the IB exam at the end of the year. Students will use the 5 IB themes (identities, experiences, human ingenuity, social organization, and sharing the planet) as they speak, write, and interpret readings and in the course.
The concepts in IB French II are very advanced. Students are expected to continue preparing at home by studying regularly to keep up with the pace of the class and always submit assignments on time. Archives
